Cultural Transformation Tools

When it comes to Culture, Measurement Matters!

Dianne Kipp uses the Richard Barrett Values Centre Cultural Transformation Tools to asses your culture, we make the intangible, tangible, “Whether we are talking about organizations or nations, the key differentiator of performance is culture.”

Culture in Organizations

“The culture of your organization is either your biggest asset or your biggest liability. Who you are and what you stand for has become the most significant differentiator of performance. Strong vibrant cultures that are vision-guided and values-driven create high levels of performance because they attract and keep talented people and they inspire employees to go the extra mile. A strong positive culture creates internal cohesion and enhances the organization’s capacity for collective action by building trust. Your organization’s culture is a liability when it displays high levels of cultural entropy: when limiting behaviors such as blame, bureaucracy, internal competition and manipulation inhibit the smooth functioning of the organization.”

~ Richard Barrett, Building a Values-Driven Organization: A Whole System Approach to Cultural Transformation, Boston, Butterworth-Heinemann, 2006

Think about the last time you worked in an organization where there was excitement in the air; where you felt the organization cared about your growth and development; where everything possible was done to enhance the customer experience; and where everyone was pulling in the same direction. Almost certainly, that was a high performing organization.

The purpose of CTT is to support leaders in building high-performance, values-driven cultures that attract and keep talented people and increase staff engagement.

CTT provides leaders, consultants, and coaches with one of the most detailed and comprehensive cultural diagnostics and values assessment instruments commercially available.

CTT surveys provide the input you need to plan and manage your change initiatives, your cultural transformation programs, your diversity interventions, your talent management and leadership development initiatives, and your customer feedback. They make the intangibles tangible and provide lead indicators for measuring individual and collective performance.

How does a culture assessment work?

At Dianne M. Kipp & Associates we utilize Barrett Values Centre CTT to assess and cure your culture. As certifed Barrett consultants, we are able to access the complete line of Barrett Assessment options. There is an entire range of culture assessments to include individual, team, departmental, and organizational assessments, as well as specific tools for Leadership Assessment, Leadership Development Assessments, and Coaches Assessments, and more. The Process

The assessment data is typically collected anonymously. Collecting data by name is an option. Requesting names can be useful when working with small groups (SGA) or leadership teams as it allows you to review data plots for each individual (IVA).

Survey participants log on to a password-protected website where they may be asked to choose from drop down lists of demographic categories. They are then asked to select:

  • Ten values that represent who they are (personal values);
  • Ten values that represent how their culture operates (current culture);
  • Ten values that represent for them the elements necessary for their culture to achieve its highest performance (desired culture).

The survey is typically open for one or two weeks. Reports are presented in English, while the diagnostic diagrams can be provided in any of the chosen survey languages. Questions may be added at the end of the survey with the following options: Free text, Yes/No, Multiple choice, and Likert scale. Responses to the questions are provided as raw data, categorized by demographic grouping.

  7. Fast Turnaround – A Cultural Values Assessment typically goes from survey initiation to reporting in two to four weeks.
